Cake Decorators - good recipe for icing?

I normally use Wilton's buttercream to decorate my cakes, but am not crazy about the taste. What's a good recipe that's stiffness flexible for decorating, and tastes good?Cake Decorators - good recipe for icing?
Home made Butter Cream Icing

4c. Sifted powder sugar

3/4c. Vegetable shortening (white)

3tsp. Meringue powder

1/4tsp. Salt

1/2tsp. flavoring ( colorless vanilla, butter etc.)

3-4tbs. Water

This is the recipe for overall frosting, flowers, and decorating

Using electric mixer, add sugar gradually to shortening, salt and flavoring. Add water. mix until fluffy, then add meringue powder and mix again until well blended.

Hope this helpsCake Decorators - good recipe for icing?
Hey thanks for chosing this recipe. I do have experience with it and it is very good and very flexible for various of things when decotating and you can even store it if you don't use all of it.

Thanks again,

I would say a buttercream but you can change the taste of your premade frosting by adding any extract you wish, kick up the vanilla, add a little mint, on a yellow cake add orange or lemon, you don't have to use it just the way it comes, have some fun, it's just the base for your imagination

Add almond extract to the Wilton recipe or rum extract either one. Wiltons has the best frosting recipe I've found
