What's your best German Chocolate Cake recipe with icing recipe too?

Frosting Ingredients:





3 eggs


1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar


3/4 cup LAND O LAKES庐 Half %26amp; Half


1/2 cup LAND O LAKES庐 Butter


1 1/2 cups flaked coconut


1 cup chopped pecans


2 teaspoons vanilla








Cake Ingredients:





1 (4-ounce) package German's Sweet Baking Chocolate


1/2 cup water


1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour


1 teaspoon baking soda


1/2 teaspoon salt


1 cup sugar


1/2 cup LAND O LAKES庐 Butter, softened


2 eggs


1 teaspoon vanilla


1 cup buttermilk**











Slightly beat 3 eggs in 2-quart saucepan with wire whisk. Stir in brown sugar, half %26amp; half and 1/2 cup butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly (10 to 15 minutes). Remove from heat. Stir in coconut, pecans and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Cool completely (at least one hour).





Meanwhile, heat oven to 350掳F. Combine chocolate and water in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until chocolate is melted (6 to 7 minutes); cool 10 minutes.





Meanwhile, grease and lightly flour two (9x1 1/2-inch) round baking pans; set aside.





Combine flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl; set aside.





Beat sugar and 1/2 cup butter on medium speed in large bowl until creamy. Add 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla; beat until well mixed. Add chocolate mixture; beat until well mixed. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to chocolate mixture, beating well after each addition, until well mixed. Pour batter into prepared pans.





Bake for 33 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes. Remove from pans. Cool completely.





Spread frosting over top of each cake; stack layers. Frost side of cake, if desired.





**Substitute 1 tablespoon vinegar plus enough milk to equal 1 cup.





TIP: This cake can also be baked in a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake for 33 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
