Recipe for monster truck birthday cake and icing recipe?

My son wants a monster truck birthday cake. Does anyone have any ideas, recipes, or pictures of monster truck cakes. Also does anyone have any icing recipes and cake decorating tips. I have never done this before.Recipe for monster truck birthday cake and icing recipe?
The first link below gives all kinds of pictures and details of how the various truck cakes were made.

The second is a picture of a cake made out of cupcakes that I was going to bake for my nephew's birthday party in July, but someone else bought a cake for him : (

Basically it is cupcakes with green icing all over, a roadway, and trucks to decorate it. I was going to make it because I thought it would be easy to cut through the icing to separate the cupcakes for serving.

The third one looks fairly easy to make, a rectangular cake with two mounds of ';dirt,'; trucks and a road, along with the decorating icing along the sides.

The recipe I always use when I need chocolate frosting is this one for Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

* 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, at room temperature

* 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

* 3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted

* 3 to 5 tablespoons milk

* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Place the butter and cocoa powder in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed until the mixture is soft and well combined, 30 seconds.

Stop the machine and add the confectioners' sugar, three tablespoons of the milk, and the vanilla. Blend with the mixer on low speed until the sugar is incorporated, one minute. Increase the speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, one minute more. Add one to two tablespoons more milk if the frosting is too stiff.

And, for regular buttercream frosting that you can tint:

Buttercream Frosting

* 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, at room temperature

* 3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted

* 3 to 4 tablespoons milk

* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Place the butter in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, 30 seconds. Stop the machine and add the confectioners' sugar, 3 tablespoons of the milk, and the vanilla. Blend with the mixer on low speed until the sugar is incorporated, 1 minute. Increase the speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy, 1 minute more. Add up to 1 tablespoon more milk if the frosting seems too stiff. *(If you are going to tint this and use liquid food coloring I would add that at this point before adding any more milk as you don't want it too runny.)

I hope these sites and recipes give you lots of ideas to work with, and that your cake turns out to be spectacular!Recipe for monster truck birthday cake and icing recipe?
