Add 1-3 tablespoons of milk. [You can use any kind you have on hand.]
Stir with a spoon.
Make sure it is not too runny or too thick. If it is too thick, add a splash of milk. If it is too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
Add lemon juice or vanilla extract for flavour, if wanted(optional).
Spread the frosting on the cake. Let the cake cool thoroughly.I need a french vanilla or any goood cake recipe (no chocolate) without butter in it!?

Ingredients
1/4 cup solid Crisco shortening
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups confectioners' sugar, sift if lumpy
1/4 cup milk
Directions
1In a bowl mix solid Crisco, salt, vanilla, and about 1/3 of the sugar.
2Add milk and remaining sugar alternately. Mix until smooth and creamy.
3Add more sugar to thicken, or milk to thin frosting, if needed, for a good spreading consistency.
4Frosts 2 8 or 9'; layers OR 1 13x9x2'; cake
